    Trying to pimp your blog?

Well, why is it that you are such an authority and your blog is only showing a 400K+ Alexa ranking - with posts over the last 12 months. Seems your advice is not really worth listening to - if it was your blog would be ranked a lot better than 400K.

There is only 1 way to increase your Alexa rank and that is to have a site that is worthwhile and has a lot of traffic. Yes, I can say that with some authority as my site has an Alexa rank of around 30K - so the 180K unique visitors/mth must like what I offer, and a fair few of them have either the toolbar or the FF SS extension installed.

Alexa is not everything either. I have other sites that have a 7M+ rank but still do very well - just a very different demographic of users - think Adult. The little blue bar is just like the little green bar - something that excites pre-pubescent teenage boys.

No, that's not what that does. The XML feed gives you the stats on your site according to Alexa, using it does not change your rankings. If you want to do that, download the Alexa toolbar.

Blunt force pinging of alexa is not recommened. You should build your traffic naturally.

Only natural traffic ranking are stable and consistent. Rest would fade away sooner or later.
