Geocities was closed three days ago. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/close/close-01.html http://mashable.com/2009/10/25/geocities-closes-2/
One of the worst purchases of Yahoo's history, as far as I can see. They paid $3.5mil before the .com burst, and then blogs undermined Geocities / Angelfire with much better platforms.
not only geocities has not been available to new members for a long time, Yahoo is formally shutting down entire geocities now. so this method would be obsolete
Sultan of SEO: please read the link. The process is that you find Geocities blogs related to your niche. Obviously the content is gone, so you only view the Yahoo holding page. Throw the link in Yahoo Site Explorer and see which links are pointing to it. Contact the webmasters of those pages and inform them that: 1. Geocities is closed, 2. That perhaps they might like to link to your page instead.
This is heard that bing and yahoo is going to make an agreement. I also confused, why they do this at this time.
