I'm in the process of having my existing website redesigned however I'm having very hard time finding right colors.

Do you have any tips/tricks taht would help me to find cool colors for navigation buttons, background, etc.?

Is there a good site that can help me?

    Thanks for any input.

This is a nice tool for finding complimentary colours.

    1. Know who your visitors will be. If it's going to be professional it's always best to stick to light, sleek designs. If it's going to be a more fun type of site accessible to everyone of all ages then a lot of colors would be useful.

    2. If you're choosing colors then don't let them be far apart from the color wheel. If it's red use blue but don't use purple. Also make sure they compliment each other, especially that they fall within the same color tone (don't use bright blue with a dull green).

    3. Neon colors are almost always a "NO" but also always tend to be the first choices people use when they design their first site. You don't need to blind visitors to have them show interest.

    4. If you have a dark background use a light font/images. If you have a light background use dark images/fonts. Many times people use the same color palette for both and have their visitors leave because it's tiring to highlight everything.

    Hope this helps. =)
