I would like to pause my adwords campaigns for a few weeks, but I am afraid that I will loose the CTR and quality score. Is there a good way of doing that? I thought of lowering my budget to retain CTR, but I have 5 campaigns with 10 adgroups each. My cost per click is about $1.90. i.e. it would still be a pretty substantial budget just to keep everything ticking. Any ideas? How long would it take to regain a good quality score after pausing a campaign? Thanks!!! Mark
Pausing it would be better then lowering the budget and killing your ctr in the process. Why pause it though?
Thanks for the info. I would like to pause it because I deliver services by the hour to people. Right now I am booked up with a waiting list. There is no use advertising until I have spare time again....
Pausing would be your best bet. However you could also try lowering your main amount of CPC from say 1.9 to 1.6 and see if your CTR changes. If you are getting a high CTR than google will continue showing your ads at a lower price. You could even send them to a landing page saying that you are unable to take any more work because of being backed up, but if they put their name and email address in below (squeeze page opt-in box) if they are interested in your services, you could follow up with them when you are not so booked and see if they still need work done by you.
Thanks Parchmentlady. The squeeze page is a good idea. I had never even heard of one until now (I wikipedia'd it ).
