How To Password a Folder ??? URGENT

Hey guys i guessing one of the dp members out there will know how to password protect a normal folder on the desk top of a Windows Xp computer i need this please give details so family cant mess with my thing.

 

you can use "Universal Shield (latest version of Lock folder XP)" to hide/password protect your folders and drives. I am using it for a long time now and I'd say it's the best.

if you are on an ntfs partition then you have the facility of getting a password on a folder, but then that is not all that easy!

i have used folder lock, but then, say you hide something in xp using folder lock, you can get it easily from the other operating system, say windows 98!

 

But who uses WIN98 And lets say if someone is using WIN98 then it's very easy to lock a folder in Win98 using DOS

 

They'll eventually find your pr0n.

 

Yeah, it's difficult to password protect a folder. I wonder why they made it that difficult, it's a very logical thing to protect your stuff. Why make it impossible...whatever..

Readytogo grow up it has all my business things in and i dont fancy loseing things because my whole family(computer retards as i like to call them you knw click click click delete delete empty reclying bin lol) deleteing templates and sites worth 1k becuase then ill haveb to kill them ts either have it passworded or put a a pass on my pc and stop the from using it

you can create a seperate user account in xp, so only you and the computer admin can access "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\".
not sure if you also have this feature on xp home or only on xp pro...

 

I am suggesting you to use DriveCrypt program with which you can make container files which you mount and use. They used to give $100.000 to anyone who brakes their protection. You'll find trial on www.securstar.com or on my site (rated 5 out of 5 !)

 

win98 was an example, i mean you can easily get the data from password protected folder, using another partition! or another operating system

there are methods to break any protection, after all the harddisk has the data, and no os or software can keep it hidden if someone wants to get it!
