Hi There is a few ways to make PHP more SEO. Change the titile tags from yoursite - page to page - yoursite. Also removing alot of extra and pointless links in PHPbb3 can also increase crawl speed. PHPBB3 does had a SEO mod which rewrites URLS and stuff. Google "PHPBB3 SEO". Many people do have issues installing this mod. I suggest creating a backup and testing on another forum other than you main one.
Optimizing PHPBB3 forums can be done, lets face it out the box this forum software really has not taken in to consideration any SEO. A pointers to help you here: 1) The URL's in PHPBB 3 when pointing to topics and forums are terrible and most importantly meaningless to Google and us!
