James, you are about right, however there are loads of ways to generate optimised intent. I have also heard that the big G now has a different way of looking at rateing websites which has to do with less "Backlinking" importance and more use of the "Rate This Site" button. Would be interesting to see how it developes.

There are many keywords tools that can speed up the process. Onsite SEO is improtant and can be easily done, by including your desired kw in the title, description and tags. Your content should be optimized for each desired kw, by including the kw's in the content, mainly in the 1st and last paragraph, adding relevant images and videos with kw in the title tags, and many other factors.... Again, many tools would help you with that. You may also consider to promote conversation and activity on your site as google preceives it highly since the last update. Finally, start creating backlinks to your mainpge and inner page from high authority sites, (edu, gov prefered, high PR and Dofollow link) with links that include the destination post desired kw in their anchor text.
