I am trying to wrap my head around optimizing a car parts site. This site has over 50,000 products with 20 parent categories, 100 child categories, and 1,000ish grandchild categories. Let's say the site covers 50-65 Ford cars only and our example is the Brakes silo. The Parent Landing Page is /brakes.html. The Child Landing Page is /brakes/brake-calipers.html. The Grandchild Landing Page could be /brakes/brake-calipers/kits.html. That page would list the 15ish brake caliper kits. These products often fit a wide range of years and sometimes fit multiple models. For the first phase, the company wants to focus on using 100-300 words of on page content and solid meta data to improve their SEO efforts. Using just 100-300 words and the meta data, how can I set this range of year's Ford Brake Calipers apart from all other Ford sites? Listing individual years for my 3-5 main keywords for each landing page is unrealistic and would probably look spammy. Creating duplicate pages to cover each year or model is also not an option for them. Any ideas on how to tackle this beast?

You are right in saying that this problem is a beast. The architecture would have to be such that the child page should be at 3 clicks away from the home page. First target the parent pages and then should you focus on the landing pages for the specific details.
