interesting read...most of the time when I optimize for G, it does well in yahoo but no so with a certain keyword. with G, I am #12, yahoo it is not in top 100. It could be that I have no IBL for that page although the G PR is high and the internal page is on theme. Why Yahoo doesn't consider it important is beyond me. I will work on IBL for it & I should see a similar improvement as a few other sites.
i need the opposite i rank in the top 3 for all my keywords in yahoo but havnt even found myself in Google. So working on a backlink campaign now!
Thanks Claudek for the link about optimisation for Yahoo. It's always the SE (if I consider only the main ones) where I have the worst results...
In France, Google has 90% (even more now) of SE market share, so most SEO guys are nealy only optimising for GG. What I usually do is optimising, for GG and then with time, it works as well on yahoo. I nearly always needed more time though. Some of the main differences I noticed: - Yahoo takes less into account the geo-localisation of the server than GG. Let's say a website in French is hosted in the US, it will appear better on yahoo.fr than in google.fr. - Yahoo attributes more weight in the fact that the domain name contains the keyword than GG. Has anyone noticed the same ?
I have found that I rank higher for my quality articles on yahoo than google. If you want to track yahoo position, use yTracker
Very informative article - thanks. My sites rank higher on Yahoo then on Google ... but I optimized for Google
Interesting that Yahoo cares little about content update or expansion... That was a piece of news for me. Thanks for the artcile
Thanks! Although I didn't concentrate on Yahoo Optimization. Now It's time to think about it also. And Great link.Keep It Up!
