Can anyone give me some onpage optimization tips for MSN? I seem to have Google covered, but MSN seems to come as a fluke..

    thanks

In my experience MSN gives more weight to <h1> tags and keyword density

Yep MSN, seems to like well optimised pages. IBL's figure pretty heavily though they're less picky than Google with no aging penalty.

    No secret, but:

    Do on page SEO
Get many backlinks using your main phrases

Title tags and backlinks is all you need :) they bounce around a bit though, you can't win that one...

MSN likes interlinking (links in your site between pages) also

I my opinion, not much optimisation is needed for ranking good in MSN. Have backlinks, some good one and your on top.

    MSN is easy:

-Have your main keyword in your URL (even if it looks spammy like www.long-keyword-phrase-here.com)

-At the top of your page have an H1 tag with your main keyword in it

-Page title should start with your main keyword

-Have a keyword density of about 7% for your main keyword

-All of your inbound links should have your main keyword in the anchor text

Do this and you'll get picked up very fast. Google on the other hand will penalize you for over optimization.

It does seem that if your optimized well for MSN then Google will hit you with a penalty for over optimization. If you rank well in Google then take any traffic from MSN as a bonus.

I have found it quite easy to rank high in MSN on one of my sites on some good keywords. Basically the info what Discreet gave was pretty much what I have done and it worked well.
