How to Optimize a website with images

To optimize your images and img tags for the search engines some guidelines you can follow are to use keywords in filenames, make them descriptive and parse the keyword correctly by using hyphens, for example california-pinot-noir-wine.jpg. Do not include stop words in the filenames such as, the, a, he, she, etc... Use the alt attribute to define the image content but limit the text to around 150 characters, including spaces. Use the most important keywords at the start of the alt tag. Title tags for images are good for accessibility purposes but irrelevant to the search engines. Do not duplicate the image filename as the alt text, be more thoughtful with alt tags. If it is relevant to the content of the page you could also add captions to your images. Also if you can, it is best to avoid using images in anchor tag text because of the unreliability of getting keyword value from images, so it is best to use actual text instead. Hope this helped.
