How to Optimize a website for Australia?

I have been working on website optimization for long time now... but this is first time I am getting chance to optimize a website for Australia only.

Can you please share your knowledge on how can i do it for particularly Australia only?

 

1. In webmaster tootle select country as Australia.
2. For Tag optimization, try use Austrlai word in title or description
3. When you going to that site use AU proxy
4. Make backlinks from .au forms, Australian .edu and .gov forums or site.
5. If you can get .au domain becasue for any keyword .au has the high no of results
6. Buy hosting from Australia

 

The site is already hosted using Australia hosting...

In this case client wants to first make it popular in Australia and eventually he wants to move on the rest of the world.

So if I set Australia in webmaster tool... how can i move on for later case?

 

get backlinks from .com.au blogs and websites

 

If your looking for those kind of SEO stuff your going to be in a trouble. Because now you hosted in AU and again you want to US also then what to do. Then tags can't optimize for AU because when he need US what to do?

So you have to go for strong link structure with off page factors.

 

like mvpsandeep said, if you get backlinks from sites similar to yours and that are Australian, you will do well.

You have to do all things in Australia, my mean to say that you have to submit articles in Australia directory , Australia blog, try to do link building only from Australian websites.

try to get backlinks from australian based website. it will help you to get better ranking....

 

Just optimise like you would normally optimise, there isn't anything really special about optimising Aussie sites. If done properly you should start seeing results fairly quickly.

Don't use Australia in your title tags or in many backlinks if the people are not searching for it!

You do not have to get backlinks from Australian websites; they do help, but any relevant & quality backlink will help.

If you are good at optimizing Google will rank you high both pages from Australia and the web.

 

in my knowledge,there is no difference in optimizing sites based on country...i think it is similar for all...may be for ur purpose,proper inclusion of keywords related to Australia and site Description will help u...

Whilst not an expert on SEO by any means I do have a number of Australian sites (probably cos thats where I live) however I have managed to get them ranked on front page of google .au and google .com by just following the same methods for ranking as any other site. Good SEO, backlinking and social bookmarking, not neccessarily to Australian sites.

if you are hosted in australia there is no need to select australia in webmaster tools .also it would be good to have a .au domain

Not at all. I have a number of Australian sites meaning .au and not one of them is hosted in Australia and it certainly hasn't affected getting them ranked both in google.com and google.com.au.

 

You can target only Australia region keywords, and promote on Australian sites.

 

Hosting is a factor regardless of what people say - always better to host in the country you are targeting
