How to optimize a blogs main page? This is a bit confusing.

I about to start a new blog but can't seem to figure out how to optimize the home page. Since it's dynamic and will only show most recent posts....Should I even consider to optimize it for a certain keyword or just get random inbound links just to boost page rank? Thanks in advance....

I'd add automatic sitemap generation and ping service. Put some static text on your main page filled with revelant keywords (but keep it human-readable).

Use SEO plug-ins, plenty around, just google it

 

Platinum SEO wordpress plugin is definitely the way to go. IMO it's way better than All-In-One SEO because it automatically generates meta information for pages and posts you haven't yet optimized. Perfect for sites with a ton of content. As for your front page, I almost always go with static, keyword rich content on my home page.

Don't use the list format on the homepage, except if you really want your site to look "bloggy". Instead, use a static page on the homepage. For title tag customization, use the all in one seo plugin for wordpress and you should be good to go.

 

That would be a fine method. check for All-in-one seo plug-in too

 

Is the static page format on the page going to rank better than a blog page with new post every day? I think it does not matter as much since Word press ranks well with search engines. Please elaborate a bit so I can understand.

 

I read that article on Yoast.com very help. Spend the whole afternoon reading it and other articles related to it.

 

Target for the keyword on what your blog is all about.
