With Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft introduced a new set of file formats: .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx, all not compatible with previous Microsoft Office versions. So if somebody sends you a Word 2007 document and you use Word XP, an error message awaits you. Luckily, the fix is easy: Use the Office plugin named Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. MOCPWEP2007FF enables you to open/edit/save Office 2007 documents in Office 2000, 2003, or XP without any work on your part. Just make sure that your office has the latest Service Pack installed – either SP3 for Office 2000 and XP, or SP1 for Office 2003. If you don’t want to go all that difficulty and you just need to convert just a single .docx file, point your browser to docx-converter.com. Upload your file, select your preferred format (.doc is just one choice), and enter your email address. In a moment, you should get a note containing a link to download the converted file. It’s a free service.
Thanks for this piece of info. A help online on the web without having to install anything is really very convenient for me and I, for one would surely be looking to use this facility a lot! Regards, RightMan
The idea of saving in old office format is good while we are in office 2007 and have to send file to some specific person but in some cases user just gets the file with .docx i.e. downloading 4rm public shared network or internet, in that case conversion method is usefull
you are working really fast. Good. But not to worry as only it is 7 days as you said, wait and watch you will get better results.
The MS file to convert DOCX files for Word 2003 is useless. I installed it long ago and it didn't work, If I try to reinstall it, I get a message that I have to remove the old version first. But there is no old version listed in my control panel -> add or remove pgms list. One more catch-22 from Microsoft!
This really came handy for me as i was having some troubles about this. Thanks for sharing this information with the community
Alternatively, you can also save your document as word 97-2003, and that would be in compatibility mode.
Somw time it is a problem like this and i faced many problems i think this is a very good way to save a file in old formate thanks for the information hope more technical information.
