How to move webmail from one server to another

    Hi all

I'm currently shifting all my sites from my old server to my new one and some of them currently use webmail. I know how to set this up on my new server with the same account details etc, but I just wondered how I would go about moving the actual e-mails and settings from people's existing inboxes to the new one?

    Any guidance much appreciated

    Thanks for your time

If both servers have cPanel then use the feature called "Copy an account from another server". It will transfer your entire site including databases, mails, email forwarder, web contents etc.

Either backup cPanel accounts manually and restore the backup on the new server, or make the backup of the whole account in WHM (assuming you have right privileges).

If your server does not have any kind of control panel, simply find where the messages are stored and tar them up, scp to the remote server and extract.

if you have root access, you can copy the whole account or you can create a full backup in cPanel, download it using FTP (best method) and have your host restore it for you. That will preserve all files and settings for you.
