I purchased a VPS and tried to transfer a site over and it did not work. I installed Zpanel on Centos 6.4, added the domain, imported the database and uploaded the files, but the website is not displaying correctly at all. Am I missing something here?
Do you have link? There could be a few reasons for this. CMS or html site? Are you getting a landing page? Setup dns and ns records correctly? Swap nameservers at the registrar? N.
If you're using some CMS, you can create backup, then install fresh copy on your new server + restore backup on it. But, the best thing you can do is to ask your hosting provider to help you with the transfer. Most of reputable companies do that for their clients free of charge. Cheers!
If you have WHM on your VPS, it is rather very easy to transfer the site on your VPS. You can use the "copy site" function available on WHM. However, if you write to your VPS provider, they will help you in getting your website transferred to new VPS.
Many hosting providers offer free migration, so you just provide both of old and new login detail and drink coffee until it has been completed.
Take your database and your source code to your computer. And upload them to your VPS with your control panel
You should provide a link so we can check it out, if your site is not displaying correctly you may have some bad configuration on your VPS apache / nginx server.
Could you provide some supporting images or error codes related to "website is not displaying correctly" ? Maybe CSS not loaded ? Invalid paths ? Permissions - You must have missed this.
I think whatever issues were, they were solved no later than a week after this thread was posted. The same day, most likely. Therefore, posting here a month afterwards is not needed at all.
check this tut. it might be usefull: http://instantcpanelhosting.com/kno...meservers-and-domain-for-new-VPSorServer.html
yet another unneded addition just for the purpose of posting the link. Not that I have objections - yet it is excessive and may seem spammy to someone, who might even report. Maybe it would be better removing this post?
