Hi all- I'm wanting to move a Blogger blog (which is under my own domain) to another host. Can anyone give me some guidance on how to do that? I would greatly appreciate it. It's currently hosted on 1and1, and I'm going to be moving it to BlueHost. After that's done, I'm hoping to move it to the WordPress platform, but first steps first. Thanks for any help you can offer. Rich
I'd setup a Wordpress blog on Bluehost and simply copy and paste the posts if you don't have too many of them.
Thanks for the reply. Questions: How do I do this but keep the same domain name? Don't I have to transfer the domain to BlueHost? Doesn't WP have an import feature? Does it work well? I probably have a few dozen posts, so I could do it manually.
Who is your registrar? You should be able to simply change the nameservers. BUT, before you do that get your hosting account set up at bluehost.
Thanks. I have an account set up at BlueHost. Trying to learn WP and start another blog. I'm definitely a non-tech type. I think the domain was registered through 1and1. I'll check tonight.
This might help you http://weblogs.about.com/od/weblogsbasics/f/backuphowto.htm You can use this software to backup your blogs. httrack http://www.httrack.com/ if you will just move to another host this is trick will do. 1. backup all your post with the tools i mention 2. Delete your blog on blogger 3. Then immediately create the same one as place holder 4. Then upload all you posts to blogger with your new host. Hope it Helps
2. There is a import function. You can try it out...although it is not 100% bug free but I heard only links they cannot properly import(not all links affected)
Yeah, looks like I've got some choices. I will definitely backup before I do anything. I think I'm going to two-step it...Move blogger blog to new host, then make the switch to WP.
will it works for free hosting like freewebs.com? i got lots of posts(like hundreds), will it took long time to move it?
