I'm using Lunarpages as my host. I have a couple of sites that I want to trade or sell. How do I do this? Is there a program to down load the site folder? I am very new to this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Does Lunarpages use cPanel - i honestly can't remember!

If they do, just generate a full backup and send it to the winner. From there, tell them that they need to submit a ticket to their new web host asking them to restore the full backup. Provided they aren't using a reseller themselves, which means it will take a while.

If they aren't using cPanel, then you should just zip up the .html files (or whatever it is you are selling) and upload it to your hosting account and email them the link to the .zip.

If you do a full backup and have multiple sites on your shared plan it will include all of your sites. If you are only selling one site then download all of the sites files through FTP and if it has any databases make sure to export them too.

Can't he use something like Putty to download all the content as a zip file? I had the same problem years ago with about 100mb of files which were 2kb each. By downloading each file it took ages and also had the problem of time-outs which resulted in me having to download the files again...nightmare!

Plesk will let you backup the site too, including the databases. If you can setup a temporary account you can let the winner migrate the site themselves. Many control panels will let you move the site into a separate account, then they can log in to download content, export the database, and setup on a new server.

Because this can be a pain, suggest they hire a professional so you don't need to get involved.

    Best,

    Justin
