I run a site for freelancers, you can check it here: http://www.thefreelanceresource.com I am getting around 100 unique hits from a targeted market everyday, and my adsense clicks are still very low. I have also put up some ebooks, that are related to that niche. Does anyone have any other ideas?
You still need more traffic to make a signifiant amount. However to increase your earnings, you can try some adverts higher up the page - not many people will venture right at the bottom where yours are presently. The best type I have expereinced are the ones that look like the options on the top tool bar. If you can get them looking similar, then you should get quite a boost in income as people think they are clicking a link on your site. This does definitely help, so try it!
I would possibly place some good cpm ads on the site and see how well they do! Maybe even try to sell some links to other sites if you want to go through the trouble! Do the freelancers on your site get paid to do a job? If so you could possibly siphon off like 5% of the money they make and say it is going to improving the site and helping to get them more jobs etc
What steps are you doing to create a relationship with your visitors? without relationship, it is really hard to make a sale/signup/job posting etc....
@JonRhodes thanks Jon... I am on WP, so I am not yet sure whether I can implement those kind of ads, but will certainly look at it. @emforce I have Google Adsense running and Bidtraffic running. Bidtraffic works like crazy on a friends' site, so thought I should try here too - not much luck as yet. @IamPower I have a interactive relationship with them via the LinkedIn posts... we discuss our posts for a while and such...
