How to monetize my high traffic web forum...

So I have had a political forum up for about a year and a half now...

It had been well populated with many involved posters with about 500 members...

    I have a pagerank of 4.

At this time I don't care if it makes me money or not because I just want to help get our country ( USA ) together and make a change.

But there will be a time when I would hope it can sustain itself.

Does anyone know the best sort of advertising for a political forum besides google adsense?

    Let me know...

    JesusLopezViejo,

Responsivedata is a good company that pays about 25% more than the other affiliate publishers.

Here is a direct link to apply to their affiliate network:
    partners.responsivedata.com/signup/CD278

Give them a try, I've earned quite a bit using them on my website.

Using FriendFinder affiliate to monetize a political site is not appropriate since the sign-ups will be quite low.

I would recommend you to go for Adsense or selling merchandise as suggested by other forumers since merchants for political related products are quite an under-provided area.

Apart from lots of tips in the DP forums, John Chow Dot Com has some good ideas in the Make Money section. Some of the sources listed will supply the appropriate content/ads to match your site for you.

there are many options for a political forum to get publicized..

    Distribute tshirts for FREE.

Arrange for some people (may be 20 in number) and all wear same bright color tshirts with your forum URL printed on them and enjoy matches together! You surely will attract public attention. you can ask the group to sing songs in loud voices to gather peoples attention.

Will tell you a story..I don't know where I read this and which country it relates too but it is true story!

Once a man collected some rare historical pieces and created a personal museum of his own but then he had no money left to advertise about it. He hired a beggar. A real beggar mind you. Asked that beggar to perform one action outside the museum and in one day his collection was being visited by thousands. You know what the beggar did?

The beggar used to walk outside the museum building perform weird actions and then buy a museum ticket and go inside the museum. Than would come back again and would repeat the process for complete day. This made people soo curious that they followed and you know the end result!

So you do not need to spend huge amount of money in advertisements. You just need to spend good brain to built strategies.

For more tips have a look at the article I wrote. I hope you will benefit from it and if you do than please do stumble it and leave your comments.
