How to monetize a niche directory

The domain name of a previous niche directory is for sale. The domain contains a few hundred backlinks on relevant site and generates arounf 500 views per month.

I was thinking of buying the domain and redo a directory on it.

But, obviously, I dont want to spend a few xxx dollars just for owning a dir.

What are the best way to monetize this directory other then selling links in the dir. I can think of a few:

Banners, footer links, Adsense ?

Any others ?

 

I used to own a niche directory. With 500 unique visitors you may be able to make a little bit of revenue from Google Adsense, Niche-related affiliate programs, and paid submissions.

 

if you can build a strong PR, you might be able to make good money off of text ads in the future. Niche, high PR links are worth a lot.

 

i wld say text & banner ads will be your main source, but it will take some time to get there....

in the meantime, u might want to establish a blog and sell blog posts

adsense puts a lot of people off submitting to directories
