How to modify the 'ID' stuff in the url ?

I learned that any URL which had 'ID' in it is ignored automatically by search spiders, and robots. So, does it takes too much effort to fix it, or anyone like me, who does not have any knowledge abt it can do it, if provided with proper instructions

Well, I have read that many time here and there, and I am sure it does.

I recently checked a popular social networking site Orkut, whose URLs have those ID stuff, and you can check in google, Orkut pages are not indexed by it :)
