Hi guys. Which tools do you use to track your PPC ROI for affiliate offers? It sems to me that it's extremely important to be able to measure the ROI on the keyword level. And how do you track the ROI on a keyword level? I came across tools like conversionruler.com and clicktracks.com. Are they any good? What do you use? What do the pros use? THANKS!
Allright. So that means that you actually coded the whole tracking system yourself? I'm only gonna get started with PPC so I'm not gonna use a custom made tracking system (yet). Could you perhaps recommend a way to track ROI on a keyword level? (Or don't you think it's neccessary? Thanks A LOT!
I don't know of any way to not use your own stuff once you get past a page or two. The basic idea that we use, that I'm sure most people use, is that you can pass id codes (as querystring values, or destination pages I suppose) into your system from whatever PPC network you use, you can store those in the session or cookie and then you can pass offer id codes to your affiliate networks (with major affiliate nets anyway). Up front you can record how many clicks by source that you hand off to the affiliate net on your side just by counting the code per offer id as you log the outbound click, but you can true up this data by fetching the reporting data from your affiliate network and then truing it up against your offer ids (I'm using my terminology, you can call it whatever you want). That's the basics of how it's done, I don't know of any off-the-shelf software that automates this entire task, though I've built custom versions, but there very well might be some out there. Hope that helps with your question about his reply.
I have not used the custom route (yet) but definitely considering it. I have used index tools, google analytics and clicktracks. And have actually found the simple javascript in google adwords conversion counter to be the easiest. I know most people hate to have google et al look too closely into their stats, but as for ease of use, it is definitely a good option.
