How to maximize my page impression.

    Hi,

Currently I have a site that uses Google AdSense.
According to Google I have about +1000 impressions a day, (according to my stats I have about 2000 but I guess Google doesn’t count everything).
I feel that my revenue is tiny, maybe $1 or $2 a day.

Now, the ads have only been on the site for about 1 month, could that explain the low revenue?

The banner is at the top of the page, I chose the text and image option.
Would there be any other company that might pay me more for that kind of impression/banner?

    Thanks

Being at the top of the page is your problem. People will generally ignore it, since ads are often there. You need people to click your ads, so putting it within the content is a good first step.

Hum, I was afraid of that.

The nature of the site means that the themes, (colours), are different from page to page.

Would you suggest a simple, small, 180x150 next to the first paragraph? Or something a bit bigger, medium rectangle 300x250.

Something with neutral colours, white or light grey.

    What do you think?

My suggestion would be to try different layouts of your ads on the different pages & see which works best for your site. I'd start by inserting the ads within the content...

As for a different company, it really depends on the theme(s) of your site. There are many affilite programs to choose from. Again it's a matter of trying in my opinion. Personally I haven't had much luck with affiliate programs so far, but I keep trying different ones.

At the risk of opening a can of worm, what would be an 'acceptable' return?
    1%, 2% or even 5%?

I've heard of an average of 5% to 8% CTR, but I'm going off memory here (which is known to be bad). On most of my sites I average a 1-3% CTR but have mainly repeating visitors.

I agree, setup different layouts for different pages. Make them blend in with your site as much as possible.

While CTR is important, I focus more on eCPM, as a page with a high eCPM & a low CTR can be more profitable than a page with a low eCPM & a high CTR.

I suggest you check your channel data of your report.

I never get better than 2% most of the time it is around 1%.
But a lot of visitors are returning ones so I cannot expect much more.

I also get around 1% to maybe 2% and a lot of users are returning ones.
But with eCPM The problem is the same as before, what is a high eCPM? $1, $10 or more.

I agree, many returning visitors= low CTR, but returning visitors is good for the long term.
