How to mass delete my email?

I was checking around a site I just bought, and see that it has over 1000 emails full of all kind of crap. Over 14 megs of spam. How can I delete all of that? Is there some way to do it from my cpanel?

 

I'm sure there must be a way to do it at the server level, but 14mbs isn't that much. Why not just download it to your email client and do a mass delete from there?

I assume you know how to do a mass delete from your email client. But for anyone who doesn't know what you do is highlight the entire group of emails. Click on the first in the list, hold down the "shift" key and click on the last in the list. Then hold down the "shift" key again and hit the "delete" key.

This will delete everything that was highlighted and bypass the "trash" folder.

 

If you can find the E-mail files on ftp and have SSH access, you can go in to SSH, and empty the files or delete them. Or for E-mail addresses you use, on SSH as root, chmod the files 777, and then on ftp, download the files, and empty them after downloading them.

 

Actually, there were a bit over 3,000 emails!!

I have now activated spam assasin on the server, this shoundl't happen again.

 

If you are running a UNIX type server you can excute the > commandn on your mail folder on the one you want to empty.

eg

That will make the file empty again.

You got to go to the mail folder first.

And example of a mail folder is
