Hi On my newest site www.ukartauctions.com I am getting between 50-100 uniques per day but nobody is registering. The site offers art sellers to register for free, get £10.00 credit and the opportunity to advertise / auction their art for 1p per auction. so basically they can advertise 1000 peices of art for free before they start paying anything and even then payments will be very small. I need content to attract more visitors and repeat custom. Any Ideas what i could do or what could be putting them off?
I checked your site and it looks not as a site for which I can give my contacts, etc. It looks too much like MFA or similar site. I believe you should get more registrations if you make your site more professional looking. Also it could be the case that your site visitors are not from your group of people who are interested in such things.
Yes, i agree with andriusk ... make it more professional looking and remove that adsense. You can always make another adsense site. But focus this service and market it till you make it or break. At least you tried.
1. More professional 2. Why should they list their art on your site over ebay? Is anyone buying art on your site? No point in taking the time to list if there is no one to buy. Good luck.
All of the above is true. Consider maybe a press release? Get some buzz going about your site. Offer a onetime deal for initial sign up.
They would sign up and register if they can see ACTUAL SALES happen. So make sure to SHOW those sales happening
Testimonials are good. Also, showing "RECENT SALES" statistics on the main page should get sellers excited.
It doesn't help that all the categories are at 0. Do you have any friends in the industry? Get them to upload a few. Maybe have a chat with a few local artists and see if they'll be willing to join.
would it be against any rules If i put art for sale from other websites on my auctions without their consent? It may well be doing them a favour as another outlet for their art to be sold? put a reserve of the actual price they are selling for.......
Maybe you need to change your business model...... Why not set up an AUCTION COMPARISON site? Your site crawls auction sites and shows your users where all the action is. Kinda like METACRAWLER or MYSIMON but for art auctions.
Artists are most likely going to be sensitive to the design of a website - and yours is terrible. That's the hard truth, and unless you have a serious rethink about site design, I doubt you'll be successful.
My opinion is supportive of the last two posts - to add, the idea of webmasterlabor.com I find noteworthy in this case. Why? Because there is a very simple rule in marketing - try to be the first in a given niche. So if you build up an auction comparison site in the field of art, your chances to get more participation would rise significantly. On design - try to give it a more professional look - it will, by no doubt, be of extreme help. Hope my advice is useful to you.
I'd like to further the points that turbulence and others have made, as well as reiterating the need for a new design, as i believe the current design is doing more harm than good. Regards,
I know where you are all coming from. I know the design should change. I dont know how to set up a site that will crawl other auctions. Anyone able to help me out with this. That is a great idea!
