I think before marketing your website you'll need to know *WHY* the web surfers should visit your website?

I had a look on the website - I think the design/concept of the website is good... until I recalled that there's Soccernet for football fans and NBA.com for the basketball fans. Which lead me thinking that it's not a good idea trying to model (or duplicate in any sort) something that already exist - I bet you wouldn't want to spend that much on sports journalist or that much of time on writing. Reporting sport commentary or news just isn't the good reason for the sports fans to visit your site unless you are the officials.

So... any idea on what to do next?

On the other hand, I believe posting actively on related forums and blogs should be a good marketing strategy for your website. SEO work focusing on long tail keywords is another method that might brings in the money.

Also, I don't see article marketing fit into your category.

No one cares about your failures Douschbag don't waste our time posting crap like this. Who are you to say anything anyways. He's going out on a limb and your dumbass has nothing important to say so don't waste our time.

I would try marketing offline maybe sponsor or try for a free or cheap advertisment at a local sports team like a beer league or kids leauge then definetly go to the sports forums and sports related blogs and comment but make it useful that would be a good start. Then find some sports blogs or sites to place some banner ads on

definetly create a banner for advertising

I would also rearrange your boxes. The login box should be smaller and at the top right like many other sites with a login also the sign up form should be at the right middle or bottum. And think to yourself why would anyone sign up? What will they get? Why is it something they should do? Otherwise no one will do it and being a sports fan myself. I wouldnt sign up. tell us what we offer. Also I thin a must for you is to get a worpress blog. You are competing with the big dogs like espn and abc sports and the NFL NHL NBA MLB sites so make it a little more personal.

You could post on AddAnImage.com - what you do is take the URL's for images on your site (I assume any that are sports related) and post them into the related sports category on www.AddAnImage.com

...you can post as many times as you like and as often as you like as long as the images are unique :)

Good luck - and don't listen too much to the negative comments ;)

Hi! I took a look at your website. I think the design is interesting but maybe You could tweek it a bit. Maybe You should highlight the benefits to becoming a member. They are there but those represent the main reason why someone should join Your website and yet they aren't being really featured if You use that grey colour!
In terms of marketing, I agree with what has been said until now. I would had Traffic exchanger. I know they can be a waiste of time but in Your niche and since You aren't really selling anything maybe that would work. And build a list. You got to build a list!
Send a PR(press release). That would be good...

Thank you for all the support and ideas.

The site does have a niche but I think most are just looking at the sports section.

We have the video section, profiel, forum, blog, and the high school section is our main niche.

The black section is the reason for users to sign up. We are just trying to figure out a way to show that in the landing page so that members know why they are signing up.

The sports section is just news and stats. The objective is to come to the site and build your high school profile, post videos, create your own profile, view our blog/wordpress, and then view stats and scores.

Thank you all for the ideas an d please keep shooting them out.

    Hello,

    1st post here.

I am in a similar position to you but because I run a successful football blog, I know what I need to do. These things helped me.

    1) Get other bloggers to help you out
Contact similar blogs that are doing well and tell them about your site. Ask them if they could mention it in a future story.

    2) Use News Feeds
www.newsnow.co.uk and http://www.eatsleepsport.com/ have helped me.

    Hope that helps!

Template looks very good, you have a fantastic design going for you.
the only piece of advice from my end is,probably you need to work on your meta tags a bit more.

This maybe more of a design comment but I think you could have more images on the front page. Get some slick stock photos from one of the good photo sites.

    Appearance is everything !

    Good luck with your venture.

Maybe try and narrow down your niche some. Perhaps focus on the high school thing? Maybe a refferal contest or contest of some sort aimed at high schoolers since they have limited money like $100 prize will be bountiful to them hehe. Perhaps run off to Myspace and post banners advertising on people's pages about the contest, time consuming yes but free.

Hand out business cards in mass after a sporting event and then do a special feature on the event (even better have a good looking girl do it). Show pictures of the crowd, people would love to see pictures of themselves.

I would like to see you do more of a niche site but looks pretty good so far. As far as advertising. I would try to quest post some high traffic blogs.
