I've created a widget that can be placed onto users' webpages.

What would be the best way to market it? Thanks.

Try sending it to techcrunch to see if they want to cover it.

Get some good blog post reviews about your new widget! Mainly in blogs that have webmasters as their dominant target audience.

Emailing blog owners and asking nicely.

    Trust me, it works.

If you have the budget, offering money helps:)

Spread the word by letting bloggers know (journalists of the web), you can and should contact them personally ...

Dont make it look too general, be friendly and compliment them on their writing style or information on their blog posts ... And then start talking about your thing ... If it's really worth it, you wont be ignored.

Oh and one more important point is they have to OPEN your email first and not send it to trash directly ........

So in the subject line of your email, dont write something like "new hot marketing widget"... That will surely make it look like spam...

Instead mention something like, "Love Your Blog, XYZ!" (be doubly sure to include the bloggers name) or "XYZ, Suggestion for Your Blog xyz.com" (including the blog's name in the subject also makes things easier)

This is hard work but its something which has worked for me very well ..... And the links and traffic which you get back is just wow! Its high quality and targeted .... Im sure it will kick things up if you put in a target of say, contacting 100 bloggers in 10 days :)

    Good luck!

Thanks mustafa and ouromarketing for the great advice.

Silly question but what is the best way to discover suitable blogs to email?
