Hey guys, I have recently released an image hosting website and I was wondering how would I market it? I'm getting small traffic per day but that is about it. Site is: http://imghost.me Regards Luke
Set up accounts on social sites for your image hosting site and start working on getting some contacts/friends. With an image hosting site, this can be a big source of traffic. Make a blog where you give tips (like how to link uploaded images to Facebook, a user's blog, forums, etc) and provide updates on what you have been changing and working on, then submit your RSS from the blog. If you don't have one already, set up an RSS feed for image uploads. Submit that RSS feed so the images get shared automatically. You should add an option to not share an image on the RSS when uploaded if you use one to respect privacy wishes of uploaders. Start doing Google searches for "List of free image hosting sites" and variations of that. You should find some sites that talk about various image hosting sites. Contact the sites to let them know about your image hosting site and politely ask if they would take a few minutes to review it for you. Regarding your actual site, I would recommend: Remove the "Addons Coming Soon" message. Stick some text down there such as a list of features, reasons why your image hosting site is a great choice, and a gallery of random images that users have uploaded. The two buttons under the Upload button should have text when hovered to give me a short description of what they are, "Add a TinyURL link to your image" for example. You have two About Us instances listed in the top nav. Your Top Nav is repeated in your footer. I would suggest taking those out of the top nav and leaving them for the footer, since those aren't usually very relevant to your average uploader. Save your Top Nav for things like a link to a video on how to upload, an FAQ, account register/login, etc. There is a lot more you can do, but there are some things to get you started.
