How do you market a search engine? This is a search engine where the users can earn prizes. How much would a search engine charge for advertising if it gets 400,000 pageviews/month and 30,000 uniques/ month?
I would find a way to get it integratet into other sites.. Most people don't use an search engine to find another search engine. (except for those searching for google in yahoo!).

If you have a search engine that gives prizes for using it, like blingo and winzy, it really will be marketed by it's users virally if you have a program set up for them to get rewarded for getting referrals. For example, in Winzy, the concept is "if your referrals win, you win". Meaning if the referral you get wins an ipod, you win an ipod too. Based on this idea people will really seek to find people to increase their chances, and those people they refer will want to do likewise. Check out those sites and implement a referral system that encourages people to promote your site more than the competition. Have promotional images (like to put in people's sig), etc.
Good way to get traffic for a search engine: Split ad money from PPC between all the users then have the site fail misserably then have John Chow and the rest of the web write about it's failure. ALGLOCO added about 150 users after it failed.
Any other ideas? Where else besides DPs advertising forum can I get people to advertise on my site? Id also like to find businesses to sponsor a prize. I cant release the URL yet. sorry.
