How to market a premium wordpress theme?

I have almost finished a premium wordpress theme, the type that sell for $27-47. Problem is I don't have much of an idea of marketing it. What is the best way to attract customers?

I was thinking of maybe using affiliates but not even sure how to go about that.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Also, do you think it looks better on its own domain or part of a wp themes shop I could make?

 

Theme shops work well. Or if you don't want to make your own, try selling it to an existing Wordpress theme shop - it works surpisingly well.

 

You can sell the theme on Themeforest.net they are pretty good

 

I thought about that, I would get 40% from themeforest I think. My concern was promoting it, Do the top sellers send potential customers to their theme or do buyers just look around the site and certain themes just happen to be more popular?

I think if I decided to sell it myself I would have my own shop, but the problem again is how to market the shop?

Themeforest or build yor own site and buy some advertisements and advertise on forums etc.
