Hi Everyone, I have recently created a forum that is focused on Business and Marketing. I am looking for ways of getting this popular. This is very new and only has 3 members at the moment, how can I get more people to simply sign up and make a couple of posts, therefore making the forum start working as a means of discussion Regards Jamie
It's really hard to have a forum take off. It needs content and constant member interaction. Some forums give rewards to its users such as free advertising, a share of their income and the likes. Since you're on the Business and Marketing niche, it will help if you get good members who are actually practicing in the business world with this strategy. But it is just a suggestion. Other than that you can go to the classic promotion methods.
Tell everyone you know about it. PPC Campaigns Post some helpful tutorials or articles to begin with. Offer up special member offers or whatever.
Hi, Thanks for your comments. I do realise the start up will be the hardest part of creating a popular forum and you are correct that business owners would be the target market. I plan to advertise the forum through our website which gets lots of visitors everyday, I just need to get some good content on there before I do so Regards Jamie
Yeah, helpful tutorials would be a good place to start. I am not really into writing articles or tutorials though. Where can I find people who may be willing to share theres? Do you have any articles you would like to share?
That's a nice strategy. Create a website with content related on your niche. You'll get good membership from there. I use to admin a forum and as I can remember, we put up ads on websites where there is traffic related to our forum niche. We manage to gather a good 1000-2000 members for each ad. I think the guy is pertaining to basic site stickies. It pretty much teaches people what belongs where and gives your members what your forum is all about.
Yeah, I do expect to get good traffic from there, It is just a matter of setting up some good content. Would you like to sign up and make a post? What happened to the forum you admined?
Well there have been some database issues. the old database overwritten the new one and everything were reset. The posts, the members, everything. The members were all pissed so they never signed up again. It's a total mess. I am just a helping admin and I'm not the main owner. Hmm... sure I'll help you out. ^_^

Very nice guide. I really hate making forums, I find even if I have alot of content already they are really tough to get to work. Really need those first few devoted members to keep it's spirit alive. I usually start off making a blog or something on the niche then introduce the forum once I get a fan base going then it will usually take off.
Wow, sounds harder than I thought. I have a target base audience from all the members signed up with my original website which I will let know soon enough. I just need to get some good content on there and the member count up. I am not too keen on paying someone to post stuff really but thanks for the tip, I guess lots of people do that.
