Hi, I just started on planning for the lunch of my financial social bookmarking site. and I wanted to ask you about the following. Is it good to have social bookmarking website for a specialized field? I need help in putting a SEO action plan to market this site? What do you think a good CMS could be used for such a project?
Yes this is good idea. But you have to remove or manage those submission as well which will be not related to your finance niche. Sphinn is good example of it. Yes this kind of website need time and dedication, so if you are ready for that you can start.
Its not a bad idea, but many larger sites like Delicious or Digg have huge categories that would only account for a fraction of your site. You need to have a competitive edge as to why a user would come to your site opposed to one of the larger ones. In terms of SEO for every bookmark make the meta data the title of the bookmark along with the keywords of that specific bookmark as well. This ensures that your page is well recognized under a specific topic and it will be better placed. For example if you have a bookmark on something that happened recently that becomes really popular online, you would want that bookmark to be relevant and specific to that topic. Sometimes you might get lucky and appear on the top page of search results, boosting your traffic. Maybe try Joomla or Wordpress.
I use to work for Quote.com in the 90s. The online financial industry is pretty much run by the major sites. You need to have something that others don't, and that's down right impossible.
Hello, Does sharing 100% of Google adsense is considered a competitive edge? In line with what you mentioned as on-page SEO. Is submitting my site on web directories, writing press releases, articles submission is considered to be a valid off-page technique for such type of websites. Have you heard of Pligg? I have a good experience dealing with Joomla and WP but they were not meant to be for such type of website I think. Again thank you very much for your feedback.
Nothing is impossible my friend. I do not wante to make a website like yahoofinance.com or quote.com. I wanted to create a twitter like website for interested members of financial field. A place in which members will be able to share with each other any financial news, product, a piece of educational article, and/or a lunch of new financial product/service.
This is. First, professional and trusted members of the financial industry wont use your site cause to be legitimate in the financial industry, they use the major financial websites to release this info. Second, you'll be overloaded with spam and misinformation that grifters will use to mislead the public for their own gain.
