Looking for good tips to market my freelance jobs listing website. Tried a bunch of things included paid advertising and google adwords, but traffic is relatively low. Anyone has any tips, suggestions on how and where to advertise my website and get more people to join? Thanks
Well when you get some more jobs acutally posted there, I'll be happy to make a post to my consulting / freelance site and include it in my listings (not saying it'll help much, b/c the site's still relatively new itself). I think you'll have a hard time until you get the jobs posted there. Just a suggestion. Over on Sitepoint they not long ago made their job postings a paid feature only, and a lot of smaller jobs have been gone. Why not go there, post a paid ad for your service, and try to attract the people who have jobs to post (forum posters, copywriters, designers, etc.) but who don't want to pay Sitepoint's fee? It could help. (of course it depends if you charge or not... didn't see it on the site) Also, post in the Services section here on DP. Plenty of people would probably be happy to register as writers, programmers, and designers I'd bet, and maybe even a few people looking to hire. Post to a big city listing on Craigslist or something telling people they can post open positions. People are always looking for new places to find good talent, so also post in an area where the service providers may see it. Hope that helps. Jenn
Jhmattern, I already did EVERYTHING that you suggested. I paid Sitepoint several times to run my ads. I also posted on Craigslist. You name it. I did it. Still not getting the kind of traffic I am looking for.
Did you post to the services section here yet? Did you send a press release yet? Feel free to use my tips and template at www.allinfoaboutmarketing.com. Not only can you send one about people being able to post (more newsworthy if they can post for free, so if that's not normally the case, consider a promotion early on), but if there's something unique about your site versus similar ones, send another one about that quality. There are tons of writers, designers, and such right here. Contact a few of them. Go to freelance writing forums (like the one at www.absolutewrite.com) and post a notice saying they can post their profiles for jobs at your site. Do the same in design forums and anything related to any area of your site. A lot of sites about freelance work have newsletters. Try to get a link or ad in them; they often have pretty large subscriber bases. If you see certain people or companies posting a lot of available jobs, contact them directly and pitch them on your service. Jenn
