How to market a free web host

I'm about to start a free webhost. I already have established free forum hosting, free blog hosting, free image hosting and free file hosting sites and this will top off the network.

Could anyone offer any advice on how to market the free web host either for free or very cheap?

Have you tried buying text links, blog posts or link exchanges.

One good thing about free things is they can get very viral if they're marketed correctly.

 

I'd like to go with the free options first, then put some $$$ into advertising.

I know I can submit to free hosting directories, but often it takes months to get listed on the bigger ones. Mainly I need to know some places to get free advertising....essentially I need to know where my audience is hiding

Loads of people setup forum all the time

If you can install phpbb for them or wordpress ten you should get plenty of customers

I already have separate sites for forum and blog hosting (with wordpress and phpbb 3.0 - see sig)

I know that theres plenty of people out there who need free sites/blogs/forums, but I need to get the word out first.

For the blog/forum sites I have posted to people in yahoo answers, etc. but it has only managed to get my a couple sign-ups.

 

If you're not willing to spend any money on advertising, then you should use digg.com if you manage to get enough diggs in a short amount of time, your site will get thousands of visitors in a few hours.
