I have a .COM domain that is generic (not a trade mark) and would like to like to sell it to a company that owns the .NET by the same name. Is there any advice out there on how to go about doing this? The site that I'm targeting is ranking in the 80,000 range on Alexa, so I'm guessing it's worth a try, but I'm just not trained as a domain broker.
Thanks for the reply. Do you know of any forums on this subject? I have the slightest idea of where to go...
Contact them and try convincing them why it is important to grab the .com domain for their company, for example you may say: - Some other company may take that domain and be a huge competitor in Google search results. - Boost your SEO and Google search results by redirecting the .Com domain to your .Net domain. - If someone else takes the .com then you will be losing potential customers who went to the other domain rather than yours. - Having same CompanyName.Com may confuse part of your customers. - World class companies do the same and buy all TLD variations to protect the brand name.
Thanks! This was very good advice. Much appreciated! I will think more about this. It would be nice if there was a camp for aspiring domain brokers, because it would be nice to be able to push your own domains instead of relying on auctions and other brokers. I wish that I knew how to make the phone calls and write the sophisticated, sugarcoated emails and what not....it's worth investing time to learn i think!
Either contact them by e-mail or phone. Tell them it is to protect their own interest. But do not sound threatening.
To sell your .com to the company who owns .net,search them on google and from who.is contact them and ask if they are interested to buy the domain as .com is good over .net.This is called end user stratgey and there is very much profit in this field
