We're working on a project for a client which requires building a local Business Directory, much like Yellow Pages. The business/services directory has a number of categories/sub-categories where local businesses are listed. We have also added enough information to the site so user can search by Category / Location / Area etc. All the category level pages are easily accessible from the home page of that directory, and also the URLs are Search Engine Friendly. My question is, once the site is launched, how can we promote it / Market it over the internet and SEO it?
I assume you are talking about a site like business.com or yell.com, if it is like that you can SEO for specific niche area and market it the way you are looking to promote it and go on benchmarking with those sites.
Yes, I am talking about sites like www.yellowpages.com www.yellow.com www.superpages.com Could you explain the benchmarking part please.
Adwords seems to be a good idea, but the site is already made and getting a steady amount of traffic from the search engines. I want to know what could be done to further improve its traffic, and in a drastic way. Keywords like 'Yellow Pages' are searches thousands of times in a day, so Adwords will be too costly.
