How to manage a VPS running on Ubunto 8.04

    Hi,
    i have never used any VPS, but today bought an vps running on Ubunto 8.04
    and after purchase i have got some info:

    VPS Login Details
    =============================

    VPS Package: Baby VPS
    Hostname: server1.domain.com
    Main IP: xx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    SSH Listen Port: 21
    Username: root
    Password: xxxxxx

    =============================
    VPS Control Panel
    =============================

    Panel URL: http://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5353/
    Username: xxxxxx
    Password: xxxxxx

    Now i have login to vps control anel wher i have seen some info:
    reboot, boot,shutdown,
    console, console setting
    hostname etc

    1.what i will do with VPS control panel?
    2. How can i see and install software in my VPS?
    3. How can i use GUI environment for managing ubunto VPS? i want to see gui desktop of ubunto from my windox xp pc..
    4. my main domain registered in name.com | Am i have to change any setting in my domain registerer 's domain control panel?

    Though my questions are very basic levels , pls answer and help me.

    Wow, there are so many things that you need to do. Does your VPS come with full management? If so, I suggest you contact your provider and ask them to set things up for you.

    Does your VPS come with a control panel, such as cPanel, Plesk or Directadmin? For VNC, I suggest you take a look here. There are many things that you will need to do with your server prior to hosting a site on it. If your VPS is unmanaged, I suggest you look for a server admin to help you out, or, frequent search engines for your answers.

    yes , my vps comes with control panel where i have found some option given below:
    reboot,boot,shutdown
    backup
    console, console setting [here i can see some dos style screen, all command prompt]
    hostname
    and similar options

    i want to set my ubuntu vps as a remote desktop so that i can download and upload fast from rapidshare or other file sharing sites ,
    my home connection is very slow only 256kbps
