Hi everyone, I own a website for sharing Responsive web templates. I will appreciate come suggestions regarding improving site, gain traffic and make it more profitable. Thanks
Well, given that off the shelf templates of any sort are typically disastrously poorly written, poorly designed if you know the first thing about accessibility, and in general are a giant scam used to dupe the ignorant into THINKING they can have a website. Lie... A LOT. NO, A LOT! - use fancy artsy fartsy "gee ain't it neat" graphical BS that's of no use in delivering actual content to blow as much smoke as possible up people's asses. Well, that or you could promote useful code and design practices, and have your site actually meet accessibility minimums like legible colour contrasts, dynamic fonts, graceful degradation, and all the other stepping stones one should have BEFORE even THINKING about making a site responsive -- but since you said "template" I can only assume you lack ALL those things.
Make it profitable? Get a Nigerian IP an con people into handing over their CC and banking info which you can then sell on the darknet. That kind of thing would be a step up from finding morons looking for templates, but the upgrade will be good for your image.
Thanks for your reply. I have plan to upload my own developed themes soon for free on my site and wordpress themes directory, that will make my site worth visiting.
Hi, I see that many make the site free or very affordable to access and use to gain members and then when you have a huge crazy amount of traffic you can try some media buying, adsense, or affiliate networks. You can also create your own affiliate network too, that is a way to make more money too, to gain traffic you can use seo if you are good at it, get a facebook fan page, a blog, ppc "pay per clic" (if you don't handle it well don't start with adwords but with more affordable and targeted services like 7search or eleavers.com)
In order to build traffic for your site and possibly setup a good conversion rate, you need to devise a marketing strategy. Your first line of action should be to build a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. The organic reach is limited, so you need to setup Ad campaigns via Facebook Adverts / Twitter cards to your target audience. Start with a limited budget and expand only when you notice that the campaign is performing well. Similarly, you can setup Google Adwords campaign & retargeting via Perfect Audience. This allows your visitors to view your website Ads all over the web (provided sufficient Ad networks are covered). Affiliate works great with this sort of venture, but you must have sufficient revenue from which to pay affiliates. The final phase is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your website. There are plenty of useful SEO resources in DP. It's the longterm power house for your website. Once you're done with on-page SEO, you should focus on Link Building.
