In my site even thoe I get good traffic, ads are not prominent, I have a alternate banner, it comes up most of the time instead of ads. Yesterday I recieved 14k unique Impression's and got around 10$ with only 116 clicks. You shouldn't be sharing stats like that as it is against Google's TOS. In answer to your question I wouldn't be trying to make the ads prominent but more integrated. Most of your useful content is furthur down the page so try integrating some ads there, you can have 3 ad blocks (and an AdLink block) per page so why not try trialing another block integrated inside one of your content boxes. Use a different channel so that you can monitor results.
