    Hi,

    Building social presence kind of tough task and demands lots of work at regular basis. Also it depends on industry area's where you are dealing with. I can put some spot light on basic where you can building your image in social networking websites:-

    1) Deal in area where your target audience most often hang out. Don't waste your time on hanging out places where your business has nothing to do.
    2) Create business pages on almost all social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google plus profile. (Research where your competitors are hanging out)
    3) Don't create fake profile or anonymous profile. Try to be get active on all social verticals regularly.
    4) Use social bookmarking website such as Delicious, Scoop( Content Curation), diggo, diig etc. Google top social bookmarking websites. There are many websites but try to use less spamming social bookmarking websites.
    5) Follow all users and try to get engage with them actively. It will increase your changes to get attention of peoples you are taking interest. They will notice you too.
    6) Post articles, infographics and whatever you do and like. People notice often with crazy contents. But not too regular. Just let your followers and fans that you are doing this. Keep the professional activities more.

    All of the above keep track back of each and every activities you are doing. So that you don't miss a chance to uncovered potentials of social marketing.

    5) foursquare
    6) Google +

    What skills do you have? What resources are available to you? How Much traffic do you expect at 3 months? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?

    Your question is vague and unfocussed. You start by providing some actual requirements instead of a "heads in the clouds" dream or vision; or whatever prompted the idea. So get down to basic with at least rudimentary formal requirements and you will have a start that defines your expectations.
