    Need some help here...

I have a hosting contract with SEO hosting

    Domains are registered with godaddy

I would like to make the name server show as the domain name (private)...I have been told by cust support from SEO hosting I do this @ godaddy and when I tried to figure this out I called GD support and was told I need to do this @ SEO hosting...does anyone have some guidance they can provide?

    THANKS in advance!!!

I believe the OP is looking to have name servers with his domain name used, such as :

    ns1.domainname.tld
    ns2.domainname.tld

You need to add these into you DNS settings at your host(SEO Hosting), and, add them into your domain name settings at your registrar(GoDaddy). There is also the option of using a third party DNS, if your host does not offer or help you out with this. Your hosting account, are you on a dedicated package, reseller or shared? What control panel do you have as well?

Its a cpanel account, I am assuming shared...but not certain how to verify this, the pkg allows me to use 5 IP addresses to spread across the domains, but would like to change some of the nameservers for seo purposes as I will be hosting upwards of 50 sites....

You will have to get the host to edit your dns settings for the domain(s) that you would want to use your private name servers for, as I don't believe cPanel end user interface allows this. You would have to tell them to add the name servers and give them the IP's to use. Once done, go to your registrar, and add your custom name servers to your domain name.

I can access a screen titled "edit DNS zone" so I am assuming this is where I make the changes and need more guidance, there is an area to edit the nameservers, so my assumption this is where I plug in the domain name for the server... ns1.example.us and then need some time for this to make its way thru the www so when godaddy goes out to verify this in their process of pointing the domain they find accurate info..

Also, not sure if this makes a difference but some of the domains will be set up as subdomains...

thanks for all of the help so far!

Do u wan to make nameservers as ns1.urhosting.tld and or ns2.urhosting.tld
Or u wan to activate who is privacy?

In domain registrar choose -> A type and Forward to Ur Namservers ip.
If u are having a dedicated or reseller or vps -> Create Nameservers As ns1 and ns2.
And In ur registrar add ur custom name servers

    @loannet
If i understand your request you need to log into your godaddy account and go into the domain that you will be making a nameserver with.

Now find the section where it says "Host Summary" and click "Add"

Then enter your nameserver, example ns1.domain.com and enter the Host IP that goes along with your current host.

To find your nameserver IPs you can ping your current nameservers and use that IP address to create your own nameservers.

Feel free to message me if you have questions.

thanks, I have this part figured out, the challenge is when I am trying to set the nameservers....godaddy returns that the domain name is not a valid name server

    for example

I edit in the seo hosting throught the dns admin area for the nameserver to read

    ns1.example.com
    ns2.example.com

and when I go to godaddy they are indicating that this is incorrect and the nameservers are invalid,,,which is where I get stuck at...

You need to add the name servers to GoDaddy as well, just as JFwebJustin has stated. GoDaddy does not know what IP to use for those name servers. Log into your domain name, bottom left corner, it says Host Summary, with an Add link, add your name servers there, including the IP you have them setup on. If you are still stuck, feel free to PM me, and maybe we can walk through it together on msn or skype.

What are the nameservers for your current webhost?

you need to find out the ip of these nameservers.

Once you know the IP address then you can create your own nameservers.

You 1st need to register the new nameservers. Once the new nameservers are registered then godaddy will allow you to use your custom nameservers.

Once your in godaddy bottom left is the host section. Click Add then create your ns1.domain.com and apply the ns1 IP from your web host.

    Hope this helps out.
