As you're not allowed to post Amazon links on Pinterest (Amazon prohibits it and Pinterest deletes them) I'm not sure that you can make money with it directly. I would use Pinterest in a similar fashion to how marketers have been using Google Image search to get some extra traffic and then set the Pin links to pages on your site that relate to the image.
I use Pinterest for bookmarking all of my blogs, but you can't link directly to Amazon. Create a middle man like a blog review page and send your pins to that page and Ping those pages for faster indexing, it really works a treat
Use Pinterest for what it is intended - look at your niche and see what kind of lists you can build on pinterest. For example if you run a site about pressure cookers create lists of great pressure cooker recipes for vegetarians, beef lovers etc.
Pinterest allegedly takes away Amazon links and uses their own. Best thing to do is to send traffic to your websites and have good content so that the visitor stays and clicks through to Amazon.
Why don't you pin your site/blog, that way not only are you getting recognised by Google for your website, but for your pin as well?
You can use pinterest to drive traffic to your site, which you then send them to Amazon products. Or if you put your black hat on just send them through a url shortener like tinyurl.com
If you do any significant volume of sales using shortlinks Amazon will probably audit your sites and ban you from their system though so it's a short-term solution.
You can't really make money out of Pinterest directly, I'm afraid. It can help with search engine rankings, though.
