I personally think that Directory business pretty much, not preferable these days. I think the only way to earn money from directories will be to have paid review option, but for that you will need to have a high PR directory. Google used to tell in webmaster guidelines that we should submit sites to directories, but now, Google has removed that line.
I have pr0, have done since some time in 2007 and ive been reviewing paid submissions to my directory since then, no need for pr, thats only important to some people, not all. Removal of a guideline does not suggest disappproval, merely a removal of a guideline. If google ever add another line that says something like avoid directories at all costs, then you know something is wrong. Until then, the unmentioned can do no harm.
HI I still make around $40-$60 per day from my main directory... but I do put time in to promoting it and building backlinks for it yes every day... I use to make more then $60 per day... but it has dropped... but I know it will go back up.. so I am not really worried.. For all that people that move then 1 directory why bother.. you can make as much from one directory. Thx Tom
Hello ezimedia Thats not at all bad sum ! Please share the URL and how old is the directory ? Also, we would be glad to hear some good suggestions for new directory owners like me.
Pls give more details about the same, like url of ur directory and how old this directory is... As you are really getting good income... Keep it up
Not strictly true, if only, but the pr is such a fickle thing that would result in you having a successful directory, a poor directory, back to a successful directory, a poor directory, an ok directory.... PR is not dismissed but it should never be thought of as the main focus. Heres something i dont get, some people pay for a link because its pr5 6 or 7, next update it becomes pr 2, 3 or 4, so you basically paid more to get less, i dont understand why people throw away money like that.
I agree with you here. I never even worry about PR building, because it keeps on changing from time to time. Instead, I work of building traffic which is most important thing.
Owning a directory / network of directories is like any other business - it takes time and effort to develop and promote. As with everything else, they're experiencing a downturn right now but the good ones will continue to generate traffic and income. I'd say a decent majority of link builders will still submit to directories but they will be more selective where they spend their cash.
Great points, add the fact that thousands keep popping up with fake PR or unrelated dropped domain names and full of porn listings. Yes, I have seen some quality directories but take into account of the not so good or cr@p ones. Try submitting to 5000 free directories and in 6 months see how many are providing a back link, tells a story really.
Thanks for inputs... Pls keep this discussion on as many other like me are surely waiting for tips on how to earn money with the help of Directory..
