Hello, I have a question. How do you make money from such video sites that clone youtube. I mean If I were to clone a site I would be expecting to pull a lot of bandwidth but then how can I actually keep up and pay the bills and generate profit? I would be paying 15GBP per Mbit. Thanks,
YouTube was not making a profit when the creators sold it. It probably still isn't. Big traffic does not always equal big money. A site like this will only make money when bandwidth charges fall - and when they do, expect the whole web to move towards video. Otherwise you will have to charge people for downloads, or charge a subscription for access. I don't see the free-with-advertising model making enough money to sustain most sites of this nature as things stand now.
So I mean if I want to make such a site I cant? 15GBP per 300GB is difficult to pay for if you dont make a lot from the site. What do you think?
Most video sites don't get any traffic so bandwidth isn't an issue. When you get traffic you are screwed until costs come down.
How about adult sites? You know such sites like boysfood.com or other porn sites. How do sites like that generate anything?
Try to click one of the "play" buttons and you will be taken to different affiliate programs where they are members of. That is how they make money. Porn industry is a very different topic. Regards
honestly i think that all video sites are not making enough money to cover their bandwidth bills.... that is why big companies owns big video sites....
Yes I agree, it would be very hard to offer free video uploading/ watching and get enough money from JUST ads to keep the site going lol
Mediatemple is cheap but not a whole lot of bandiwdth when you start looking at whats out there. A 100 Mbps unlimited connection will get you a lot more.
hi I think Video & file Sharing Site dont make good Earnings PS : You may try the link which is in my signature 999GB Free Traffic Thanks
Boysfood does aproximatly 1500 Mbits but it is aproximatly 62% profit on its income. You just have to shop around to get a decent bandwidth rate of course. I pay ~ £3.50 a mbit.
From my personal point of view, early bird eat the worm. Rapidshare or youtube is an example. They are monopoly the market. For new file hosting or video sharing sites, you have to offer something special to overcome this issue.
Starting a video sharing site now is just dumb! YouTube is too big, its like trying to open another myspace or ebay. Also video hosting and bandwidth is going to cost you more then you will make. I am personally about to launch an image hosting site and i'm hopeing i can survive...lol
