Many people try to leverage social media to make money but they all get it wrong in the first place. One of my favorite course instructors in this area, says, "If you wouldn't do it offline, don't do it online. " So let's talk OFFLINE FOR A MINUTE. How would you feel about a person you met at a networking event who replied, "Hi, Nice to meet you. I'm selling prepaid Phone Cards. Would you like to buy one?" Not real good, right? The better approach is to say, "Nice to meet you," and talk about something that both can connect on. Then you swap cards and keep in touch and develop the relationship. Maybe you get invited to a holiday party, or a baseball game, and during that conversation you connect enough that you ask each other about business. That's where the lead may or may not come in. But it has to be natural. That's called developing the relationship. Now let's go back online to a social network, like LinkedIn or Facebook. If you connect with someone and right away they send you the sales pitch, they're going to alienate you right away. And of course if you do it, you'll alienate them! So the best approach is to take it slow and develop the relationship. Answer their questions, make positive comments about their profile or business. There's lots of ways to do it but the important thing to learn now is to avoid this important mistake. Don't sell nonstop to everyone you meet! I think it'll be really hard to make much money without producing anything, even with the help of Facebook. This opportunity seems to me an excellent way to make some extra cash, but not just as the basic source of income.
Facebook is good promote a product but i am still not sure about the outcome as i haven't yet tried it.
Like everything is overabused so is facebook, youtube, myspace etc, once you have some new site online, it attracts so-called-online-businesspeople with only 1 thing in mind, sell you stuff. Like this person's advice, it couldn't go without shoving a link to his buy-my-book site. When are people going to share. Really share.
In my opinion, just don't treat facebook as a market, it's just a place to express things people interesting.
This is the same principal of all of these groups. I mean nobody is joining a lot of the groups where you have to then go and complete a CPA lead survey just to see a picture (I just view the source of the page, and look for the URL of the pic lol), but a lot of these new groups and building up a big base of followers, and then gradually posting messages, untill they feel it's time to add in a few affiliate links etc.
FB is going hard on internet marketers... Its true that some people still earn there but for me Its not worth the trouble anymore. The hay-days of FB is long gone.

Facebook is very important nowadays because there are 400 million Facebook accounts existing and it it the best way to promote your website , product or services since almost everyone has a Facebook account and spend a minimum of 1 hour per day on that site. You just need to know how to take advantage of the possible traffic effectively. Bottom line is, it's about building relationships and trust to convert your fans/friends to clients/buyers
