If he secured the rape and incest URLs with purely altruistic intent, as he claims, then good on him.

But I suspect that had anyone given advice as to how he could make a fortune with a porn site, using those URLs, he would have jumped on it.

Call me cyncial, but as Tyler pointed out, his original post asked how to 'make money' with the sites.

I know a back-pedal when I see it, and it's my bet he never uses those sites for any sort of public awareness or common good.

BTW, I'm not a prude and understand that adult sites make big money. I just have a problem with using 'rape' and 'incest' as traffic generators.

I have a problem with them being used that way too. I'm curious to see if he takes me up on the offer to help him use it as publicity. I'd have an even bigger problem with someone registering them just hoping to profit from a domain name sale to another site who would mis-use them though. I guess we'll see. :)

I would say that the idea that the domain is a traffic generator is off base to start with. It's a faulty premise. Aside from people who hang around in places like this forum, nobody really cares about domain names - unless their marketed to the extent that they're part of the common vernacular. Granting the benefit of the doubt, even people looking to prevent rape or incest wouldn't just type incest.eu into the address bar. They're going to search for incest, and when they do the domain name doesn't carry much weight - especially if it's buried on the 89th SERP. Build a good site, cause the domain isn't going to do the heavy lifting for you.

Maybe I am completely in the dark, but I don't know what any of your .XX suffixes are.

So if you start a site BestSiteOnEarth.SomeObsureSuffix and then promote the hell out of it I'm going to hear about it, rush home and check BestSiteOnEarth.com and never even make it to your site.

My thought is if you can't get dot.com don't even bother. Unless your looking for something like dot.edu dot.ca dot.uk etc

    Man,
why don't you just start with one good website.
Build some traffic up, make some sales and than when the whole thing is making you a few $xxx per month start a second site, etc
There is no way you can manage all those sites. Sure, if you spend 30 mins a day on each of them but in my eyes that isn't the best thing to do.
Just pick 1, start building traffic and see where it gets you ;-)

    Just my 2c

Getting hold of a bunch of domain names and then wondering what to do with them is a totally backwards way of going about things. To build a successful website, you need a good concept, or a ton of good content.

Sometimes when you build a site the domain name is the last thing to sort out before launch, because it's the least important thing. As long as you don't choose a completely awful one (decompose, rape, incest ...) or one with typos, it doesn't matter much.
