My personal photography blog is about a month old, but it is receiving 1000 unique visitors per day for the past several days. Now, what can I do to make money off of this site that is 1) not a graphical banner and 2) Non-obtrusive to my viewers (like popup ads and such). Link in signature.
go to http://www.google.com/adsense The adsense program is a way for you to monetize your website. You basically agree to let Google serve relevant advertisements on your website, which, if your visitors click on, will generate revenue for you.
You earn some money when someone clicks the text ads. You can use adsense but I don't see any content on the site. You need to have content as well if you want to use adsense.
Hi Dominic. You need to look at what people are searching for to get to your site. As suggested above you could use PPC ( pay per click ) where you place some code on your site ( the ads can match you colours ) and then when someone clicks the ads ( not you! ) you get paid for every click. You get paid more for different ads. As suggested have a look at Google Adsense.. Depending on the searches to land on your site you could narrow down your "customers" . You could pipe them off to buy tshirts with your pictures on them http://www.zazzle.com/api If I can think of anything else will be back
1000 uniques will not generate a great income at all from PPC. Everyone thinks they should add them, answer is only if you have very high traffic you will get a sibstantial income from it. Use something like clickbank or CJ and amazon find a really targeted product to your website and PROMOTE PROMOTE!! Do not just place a link make a really good descriptive information page about it. Always think big, never small if you want to do well in this trade.
You have some wonderful images there like this sleepy fellow I'd consider setting up CafePress.com store and selling your own merchandise (T-shirts, mouse mats, coffee cups and whatnot). Putting these type of images in the items could do pretty ok. I'd also consider setting up a newsletter so you can remind your visitors to come back when you have new stuff to sell (check www.aweber.com) One idea could be to use "image advertising". Unfortunately I cannot remember the website that offered it, but basically - you can display small mouseovered ads for visitors. No idea how well it could work, but perhaps worth trying. Since you seem to have eye for photographs, perhaps you could also consider selling your items via places such as iStockPhoto.com You *could* try using services like www.chitika.com and advertise cameras/whatnot for people to buy. Last but not least - how about adding "services" tab on your site: and offer photography services (take shots for companies to use). If you can do website design (your site looked nice), then consider doing that too. Bonus tip: if you like to write, then how about writing some guide on how to take great photos (like you ) and sell that guide to people for $77. Your site looks "luxury" and gives the image of a pro, so let the prices be accordingly to that.
