you can sell footer links of the themes. You can also sell your themes as paid themes. Or just distribute your themes for free and when your site gets good traffic, you can earn from ads.
Many advertisers are ready to pay for templates with their links in footer/sidebar, especially that`s about Wordpress themes. But you need to have strong distribution network for your templates: web-designers forums, blogs, communities etc. If you do, it won`t be a problem to find a sponsor.
