Basically, you build a block of adverts to insert into your pages. Google takes a look at your pages and decides which adverts will earn them (and you) the most revenue and they display those adverts.

Visitors arrive at your pages, see the adverts that Google has picked and if they decide to click on one of them, Google pays you some money. The amount of money depends on how much the advertiser is prepared to pay per click.

For more in depth information have a look at the Adsense Help Pages

Don't forget you need to apply for the adsense account and in order to get it, you need to first setup a website/blog and get it filled with contents. Once the site/blog has been established and the account approved, the rest just goes on from there to insert in the codes. Every successful clicks will generate money and don't forget you are not allowed to click on your own ads.

There are many rules you must obey, far too many to list here.

Read the Adsense Help Pages as I suggested, and then come back here if you still have more detailed questions.

    hi,

apply for an adsense account & get approved by signing up, & then choose which ad type you would like & simpy copy & paste the code into an advertising area on your site where you want the adsense displayed then when users click on this you get paid, thats all it is.

Read the TOS and never click on your own ads. make sure you optimize your ad placement and blend ads to the look and feel of your page. always keep testing to see if you can squeeze some more cash out of the system. use channels so you can see where you're getting click action. and remember to drive bucketloads of traffic to your site. other than that read everything you can on Digital Point.

Adsense is a losing game lately with all the changes, why trade pennies for dollars

you need lots of traffic to make money, so why trade that traffic for a couple of pennies when a decent product or affiliate product will make you dollars alot more than Google will ever make you these days

its a losers game for the effort

    Here is a quick setup guide;

Choose a market that you wish to enter.
Goto google and type free wordtracker
Type in your chosen market keyword
Find a keyword with more than 50 searches per day
Goto google and type in that keyword with "" around it
If the search is below 10,000 pages its a good market to enter
Now use your chosen keyword and make a page around it
Use the keyword in <h1> tags etc and at it in the title and very first text
Next add some more content, I try to have my keyword density around 4%
Now you need to add your adsense ads, get the code from adsense, google
will explain how you can do this.
Next get some traffic, goto pingoat.com and pingomatic.com and ping your
new site to get listed in the search engines.
Next use onlywire.com to submit your new website to social bookmark sites
Next continue to build backlinks to your new website exchange your url link
    with similiar websits
    Collect paycheck
